29th October 2019

This year’s event in Madrid highlights Iberdrola’s commitment to digitalisation and the HALO was joined at the Summit by some of the world’s leading specialists in digitalisation including Spotify, Amazon and IBM.

Iberdrola is the parent company of Scottish Power, one of the HALO’s Platinum Partners, and its Digital Summit in Madrid has showcased three low carbon energy projects from across Europe – including the HALO Kilmarnock.

Marie Macklin CBE, Founder and Executive Chair of the HALO Urban Regeneration Company, was a guest speaker at the summit where she talked about how the HALO will be the first town centre net zero carbon energy project in Scotland.

With a vision for a dynamic commercial, educational, cultural, leisure and lifestyle quarter where people can ‘Live, Work, Learn and Play’, the HALO will provide a sustainable community approach to a mixed-use development powered by electricity with a net zero carbon footprint.

Through its Enterprise and Innovation Hub, the HALO will collaborate with Scottish Power to create an industry leading cyber and digital training and learning facility, establishing the HALO at the forefront of the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

Marie Macklin CBE, Founder and Executive Chair of the HALO Urban Regeneration Company, said: “It’s a huge honour for the HALO and for me personally to be invited to Iberdrola’s Digital Summit here in Madrid.

“Alongside Iberdrola and our Platinum Partner, Scottish Power, the HALO is leading the way in preparing for Tomorrow’s World by focusing on the digital and cyber skills that will help shape low carbon energy systems in years to come.

“It’s fantastic being joined here at the Summit by some of the world’s leading digital specialists and engaging with these brands on how we can develop a workforce of the future."
