Marie Macklin CBE Executive Chairwoman of Macklin Enterprise Partnerships, has a background in construction, financial services and banking. She developed The Klin Group as a successful property and land development and re-generation business.
She was awarded a C.B.E.in the 2014 New Year’s Honours List for Services to Economic Regeneration and Entrepreneurship in Scotland.
She is Chairwoman of Diligent World, a risk management consultancy, in which she has invested personally, a member of the Board of Ayrshire College and Business Patron to Centrestage, a social enterprise arts organisation.
She is a mentor for Entrepreneurial Spark Enterprise and assists female entrepreneurs to build business networks through her initiative, Women in Enterprise, in partnership with the Association of Scottish Business Women, whose Award for Outstanding Contribution to Business she received in 2013.
Marie has a long-established commitment to the development, excellence and philanthropy of young people. She actively encourages entrepreneurs by advising, investing, sponsoring and supporting schools, colleges, arts and community organisations to engage young people in business.
Like Marie, co-director, Derek Weir has made personal investments in a number of early stage businesses. He has more than 25 years’ experience in Corporate Banking, in the UK and overseas, and has held Managing Director roles in both RBS and Barclays Bank.
Since leaving Barclays in 2009, he has held a number of non-executive and consultancy roles, in various sectors, including retail, printing and ground transportation. Currently, he is a non-executive Director of the Co-op Bank.
Derek has extensive experience of reviewing business plans, structuring funding packages and working with investors and banks. His experience and knowledge of working with both growing companies and shareholders will help Macklin Enterprise Partnerships to achieve ambitious growth plans.
